  1. XPROOF(ER)'s DEMO VERSION on INTERNET
  2.  
  3. XPROOFER is text proof reader, speller and corrector for the maintenance of
  4. professional texts in one of the European languages. The linguistic mechanisms
  5. are tuned to the properties of any target language. These mechanism are 
  6. insensitive for the usual limitations of spell checkers.
  7.  
  8. XPROOFER is a WIN32 program meant for WINDOWS NT and WINDOWS 95.
  9. For many WINDOWS 3.11 systems XPROOFER can be used in combination with
  10. Microsoft's WIN32s packages for WINDOWS 3.11.

  12. An American English demonstration version of XPROOFER is stored in the file 
  13. XPR_DEMO.ZIP.  There are two directories: disk1 and disk2.
  14. This file has to be unzipped with
  15.  
  16. pkunzip -d xpr_demo.zip

  18. Before continuing, please read the copyright notice in the file "copyrigh.ts"
  19.  
  20. If you do not agree you have to delete any file belonging to *TALO's XPROOFER
  21. package; if you agree, you have to load each disk directory to a 1.4 meg 
  22. floppy:

  24. Put a new empty floppy into the drive a:

  29. Disk1 is the installation disk with the content:

  40. Disk2 is the American English disk with the content:

  43. _AMERICA.ABB

  45. Please read the INSTALL.TXT, UP-DATE and README.1ST files.

  47. The READ_PS.ZIP can be unzipped and thereafter, printed on a PostScript 
  48. Printer or it can be viewed with GhostScript (there are several sites 
  49. distributing GhostScript and Ghostview; ftp: ftp.cs.wisc.edu:pub/ghost).
  50. If you can not print postscript, you can view and print the overview of 
  51. XPROOFER from the help function in XPROOFER's main menu.

  53. Note that a correct installation only occurs when the installs.exe program
  54. on disk1 is executed. 
  55. The installation procedure can be executed from the DOS-prompt:

  57. a:installs
  58.  
  59. Do not enter an authorization number, any number will mismatch.
  60. However, do enter your name and company name.
  61.  
  62. "Installs" automatically appends the "autoexec.bat" file with:
  63.  
  64. append c:\bin32
  65. set ispel=c:\spell
  66. set history=c:\spell
  67. set temp=c:\spell   
  68.  
  69. If not defined the program will not run.
  70. Please edit this variables in your autoexec.bat file, if necessary.

  72. Thereafter you might create a new entry and group with the program 
  73. manager (see README.PS) or you might use XPROOFER from the command line
  74. prompt.

  76. This WINDOWS NT/95 version also runs under WIN32S package for WINDOWS 3.11
  77.  
  78. Please keep in mind that XPROOFER is meant for professional text correction.
